POLICIES & PROCEDURES

Please read through all policies and procedures listed below before reserving your appointment with us. These guidelines help us keep our dogs and staff safe and we thank you in advance for respecting all of our policies! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to give us a call and we will be happy to assist you.

VACCINATIONS

All dogs must have current vaccination from a veterinarian on file.

Dogs must be vaccinated for
Rabies
Distemper / Parvo
Bordetella

Downtown Woody’s Grooming Salon does not and will not administer any medication or sedatives to any pet under any circumstances. By bringing your pet to Downtown Woody’s for any services you are aware you should have a healthy vaccinated pet. We cannot accept unvaccinated pets.

SPECIAL HANDLING

Owners must inform Downtown Woody’s Grooming Salon if their pet bites, has bitten, or is aggressive to people, other pets, or specific grooming procedures. If your pet becomes aggressive during the grooming session, we may have to stop and send your pet home as-is. A special handling fee will be charged in addition to the full grooming cost for time spent on assuring the safety of your pet and any staff attempting to groom your pet. We reserve the right to refuse future services.

SENIOR PETS

We do our best to make the process as easy and stress-free as possible, but the grooming process can still be overwhelming for some senior pets, especially with certain medical issues. We require written (email is fine) consent from your regular veterinarian that your pet can safely go through a grooming session at the salon. If we do receive written consent from your vet, but feel your pet will not or is not doing well for the grooming process, we will stop and send the pet home. Grooming charges will still apply.

MAT REMOVAL / DE-MATTING

Pets with matted coats need extra attention during their grooming session. Dematting is the removal of tight tangles which sometimes requires shaving. Shaving a heavily matted coat is time-consuming, must be done with extreme care, and will include extra fees. Prevention is the best defense against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments and maintaining your dog’s coat at home. There will be an extra charge for mat removal regardless if shaved or brushed out starting at $15 minimum.

FLEA & TICK

Flea infestations can lead to tapeworm and other health problems. If fleas or ticks are found during the grooming process, depending on severity, your pet will be treated with a natural flea treatment, you will need to provide flea protection after grooming. If a pet is infested, you will need to treat before coming to the salon. We will send any pet home that is infested. Charges will apply.

If you find yourself dissatisfied with your dog's haircut for any reason, please don't hesitate to reach out to us within 48 hours of the appointment. Our dedicated team is committed to addressing any concerns you may have, and we will work diligently to rectify the situation and ensure that your next visit exceeds your expectations. We understand that miscommunications can occasionally occur during the check-in process, and we are determined to make things right for you and your beloved pet.

DOUBLE /TRIPLE COATED / SHORTHAIR BREEDS

We do not shave these coats/hair types unless they are severely impacted or matted and it is for the well-being of the pet. We care about the integrity of the coat and shaving may compromise healthy regrowth. Shaving these breeds can cause skin issues including skin cancer due to the lack of protection that the coat provides in any climate.

PRICING POLICIES

All pets are priced according to their breed standard, coat type, length of coat, behavior, and style. A general rule of thumb is the longer the coat, the more it will cost. Our prices are subject to change at any time.

Dogs will be given an estimated time of completion (typically 1.5-2 hours for small-medium size - 2.5-4 hours for Large breeds). Please understand that this is an estimation and for reasons beyond our control circumstances may arise where grooming may be done early or may take longer than initially estimated. You will be called to pick up your pet promptly after grooming. Dogs must be picked up within 45 minutes after grooming. If your dog is not picked up in that 45 minutes you will be charged an aftercare fee of $15. Dogs not picked up by closing and passing the 45 minutes, will be charged an additional $30. Some groomings run past closing time so it would be 45 minutes after our call/text.

PICK UP & AFTERCARE CHARGES

NO SHOWS / LATE CANCELLATIONS

No-shows and cancellations after 48 hours of appointment time are subject to a 75% (grooming total cost) fee per pet. Fee charged on day of service appointment will be charged to the card on file. If no card is on file, you will have to have one on file to schedule - no refunds or transfers. If card on file is declined you will have to pay that fee and put a working credit card on file with deposit before you make another appointment, if you do not pay fee or decline a card on file we can refuse services. We understand there may be emergency situations and will work with you, but not on a continued basis. Please be respectful of our time as we are a by-appointment business, and another client(s) could have taken your appointment if we had known. Text reminders are sent out two days before and the day before. If you are not at the shop to check in with your groomer, you are not here and will need to reschedule. After 3 no-call no-show or same-day cancellation we have the right to refuse future services.

Note: Any client 15 minutes late will be canceled, charged as a no-show, and will have to reschedule their appointment.
